Tonia Johnson | Star of Excellence Award
Tonia Johnson | Star of Excellence Award
Congrats to our Star of Excellence Award winner: Tonia Johnson of Claymont Elementary school.
This award is given to a staff member in a local school district in Tuscarawas County who demonstrates leadership in the field of developmental disabilities by working to improve results for students with disabilities. The staff member who is nominated for this award promotes partnerships and collaboration, provides excellent in-person student instruction and support, and provides continuous educational services to students in their local school district and the Starlight School Specialized Service Program (Outreach Program).
Mrs. Johnson is committed to the growth and development of her students. She goes above and beyond to make sure that they are learning new skills that add value to their lives and academics to take them into their future. She has been known to say, “I am constantly thinking of their future and how I can make that better.” There are no better words that encapsulate why we do what we do. She goes above and beyond what is asked of her. If at any time she is unsure of what she’s doing or feels something isn’t working, she will ask questions and talk it through until she is comfortable with it. She is always quick to offer thanks for any help from the Outreach Program team, but her students' success in our program is largely due to her dedication and willingness to learn all she can about behavior interventions and strategies to correctly implement these strategies in the school setting.
The TuscBDD Starlight School team thanks you for your dedication to students with disabilities! #bettertogether Claymont City School District
